A Few Observations About The "One Faith"

Kendall Faull

Ephesians 4:4-6, “4 [There is] one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; 5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 One God and Father of all, who [is] above all, and through all, and in you all..”

1. The “One Faith” is something you should “obey.”

Acts 6:7, “And the Word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priest were obedient to the faith.”

2. The “One Faith” is something you should “examine to see if you are in.”

II Corinthians 13:5, “Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?”

3.      The “One Faith” is something you should “strengthen.”

Acts 16:5, “And so were the churches established in the faith, and increased in number daily.”

Titus 1:13, “This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith.”

4.      The “One Faith” is something you should “stand firm in.”

I Corinthians 16:13, “Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.”

5.      The “One Faith” is something you should “hold on to.”

I Timothy 3:9, “Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience."

6.      The “One Faith” is something you can and should “keep.”

II Timothy 4:7, “I have fought a good fight, I have finished [my] course, I have kept the faith.”

7. The “One Faith” is something you can “deny.”

I Timothy 5:8, “If anyone does not provide for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.”

8.      The “One Faith” is something you can “turn away from.”

Matthew 24:10, “And then shall many be offended (and turn away), and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.”

9. The “One Faith” is something you can “abandon.”

I Timothy 4:1, 1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils.”

10. The “One Faith” is something you can “wander from.”

I Timothy 6:10 and 21, “10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 21 Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace [be] with thee. Amen. [The first to Timothy was written from Laodicea, which is the chiefest city of Phrygia Pacatiana.]”

11.  The “One Faith” is something you can “destroy in others.”

II Timothy 2:18, “Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.”

12. The “One Faith” is something you should “contend or fight for.”

Philippians 1:27, “Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel.”

Jude 1:3, “Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort [you] that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.”

I Timothy 6:12, “Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.”

13.  The “One Faith” is something you should “remain true to.”

Acts 14:22, “Confirming the souls of the disciples, [and] exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.”
