IN CHRIST JESUS, THE BELOVED

George L. Faull

Ephesians 1:3-6, "3 Blessed [be] the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly [places] in Christ: 4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: 5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, 6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved."

The phrase in Christ, in Christ Jesus, and in Him appear often in Scripture. I took my computer and typed in Christ, in Jesus, and in Him to see what we have in Him.

Here is what I found:

1.         We have redemption in Christ.

Romans 3:24, "Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus."

2.         We have no condemnation in Christ.

Romans 8:1, "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit."

3.         We are of one body.

Romans 12:5, "So we, [being] many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another."

4.         We are sanctified.

I Corinthians 1:2, "Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called [to be] saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours."

5.         We are made alive.

I Corinthians 15:22, "For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive."

6.         We triumph in Christ.

II Corinthians 2:14, "Now thanks [be] unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savor of his knowledge by us in every place."

7.         We are new creatures.

II Corinthians 5:17, "Therefore if any man [be] in Christ, [he is] a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

8.         We are sitting in Heavenly places.

Ephesians 2:6, "And hath raised [us] up together, and made [us] sit together in heavenly [places] in Christ Jesus."

 9.        We are created in Christ Jesus.

Ephesians 2:10, "For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them."

 10.      We are made nigh.

Ephesians 2:13, "But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ."

 11.      We are partakers of His promise.

Ephesians 3:6, "That the Gentiles should be fellow heirs, and of the same body, and par-takers of his promise in Christ by the gospel."

12.       We are presented perfect.

Colossians 1:28, "Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus."

13.       We are promised life.

II Timothy 2:10, "Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus."

14.       We may obtain salvation.

II Timothy 2:10, "Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory."

15.       We can receive all the promises of God.

II Corinthians 1:20, "For all the promises of God in Him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us."

16.       We are made the righteousness of God.

II Corinthians 5:21, "For he hath made him [to be] sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him."

17.       We are made complete in Christ.

Colossians 2:10, "And ye are complete in Him, which is the head of all principality and power."

18.       We are preserved in Jesus.

Jude 1:1, "Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to them that are sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ, [and] called."

Then I typed in the phrase into Christ and into Him, and only one passage of Scripture came up.

Galatians 3:27, "For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ."

Then I typed in the phrase into His death.

Romans 6:2-3, "2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? 3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into His death?"

Matthew 28:19, "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit."

In this passage I notice that we are baptized into the Name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The original Greek word uses "into" rather than just "in." Obviously it is necessary that we be baptized into Christ to enjoy all the blessings and promises we are offered in Christ.

ARE YOU IN HIM?

IF NOT, YOU ARE NOT SAVED,

AND NOT IN THE FAMILY OF GOD.
