N.A.C.C. Leadership Called To "Repent"

George L. Faull

Many of us have been grieved for some time with the direction which the North American Christian Convention has taken. They think nothing of having in denominational persons to speak. They have had in every stripe of sectarian imaginable. They are even having the sectarians to evaluate us as a "Brotherhood." Last year they had a woman to preach. They have absolutely no conscience of causing their own brethren pain. They claim to be the strong ones. But we doctrinally sensitive brethren are considered the weaker brethren. If this is

true, and if they have liberty, why are they not careful to not cause us who are weak, to stumble. Will we not be emboldened to go hear these teachers? Through the knowledge that these N.A.C.C. leaders have, should the weaker brethren perish for whom Christ died? When they sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak consciences, they sin against Christ. Study that principle in the following passage:

I Corinthians 8:9-12, "9 But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumbling block to them that are weak. 10 For if any man see thee which hast knowledge sit at meat in the idol's temple, shall not the conscience of him which is weak be emboldened to eat those things which are offered to idols. 11 And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died? 12 But when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ."

If we brethren, who feel that what they are doing is wrong, still go ahead and are party to it, we have sinned against our conscience. The N.A.C.C. leaders prefer to fellowship with false teachers instead of their own brethren. It is like a family reunion. Some brethren would welcome their "gay" brother to bring along his partner, even if their other brothers would not come if the "gay" brother's partner was there.

The N.A.C.C. says that this is all done in the name of "Christ-ian unity and tolerance." This is ludicrous. They prefer fellowship with those who are admitted sectarians [I am a Baptist, I am a Methodist, etc.], and then they turn around and call those of us who are offended at these "sectarian" admissions, "the sectarians."

Now, supposedly to please us, they bring in two Church of Christ apostates. They could not have chosen two more disdained apostates of the Church of Christ than Max Lucado and David Reagan. These men have left the position which the Churches of Christ and Christian Churches have always held. Neither one of these apostates believe baptism is essential to salvation. Both men consistently "knock" the Church of Christ in their writings and speeches. Both claim that you are "baptized because you are saved." If you doubt the truth of what I am saying, visit their web sites and read their literature or listen to their radio broadcasts.

If the North American Christian Convention leaders all know this, and still have these apostates come anyway, they should be rebuked. They should repent.

If they do not know it, they are remiss in their duties as leaders of the N.A.C.C. by not checking men out before bringing in wolves to feed the flock.

These men left the Christian plea and are now apostate. To bring in men who knew the Truth and abandoned it is worse than bringing in a Chuck Colson, who never knew the Truth. I believe the N.A.C.C. leaders need to apologize to the Brotherhood. I, for one, am tired of the "Repent and be Baptist" philosophy that is so common among our Churches.
