Challenging Thoughts

George L. Faull

A fellow named Blinky went to prison.  He was called the Grandpa Moses of counterfeiters.  He was so careful in copying a ten-dollar bill that it took an eagle’s eye to tell the difference between the copy and the original.

After ten months of work he figured he would try it out on the public.     Within 2 hours the treasury agent had arrested him for forgery.  He was indignant and laid the original ten-dollar bill down and the counterfeit one next to it.  “Now,” he demanded, “tell me the difference between these two ten-spots.”

The T-man said, “I cannot see a bit of difference, Blinky, but that is just the trouble.  Seems you made a mistake.  You copied your counterfeit from a counterfeit.”

Now friends, Blinky isn’t the only one that copies counterfeits.  Many a Christian is imitating some preacher or elder they have known instead of the Lord Jesus Christ.  They do a good job of imitating them.  Jesus talked about the Pharisees who compassed land and sea and made them a two-fold child of Hell, more than themselves.  Make sure you are copying Jesus instead of some man.

Many of our churches are copying counterfeit churches.  The leaders of the churches want to see how the denominational churches are growing.  They use their tactics, programs, arguments, and titles.  They compass land and sea (in California and Illinois mostly) to meticulously learn to copy their big church pattern.  The only trouble is, they are not copying the church in the Bible.  They are counterfeiting counterfeits!!!

Christians and churches that are only imitations of imitations are like a counterfeit ten-dollar bill.  They appear to do a lot of good for people along the way until they are exposed.  The one holding onto it in the end is a real loser.

Make sure you have the real thing.
