If you ever want to show a verse of Scripture which
demonstrates what people do in putting their agenda into translations - watch
this:
Ecclesiastes
6:10, (NAS)
"Whatever exists has already been named, and it is known what man is; for
he cannot dispute with him who is stronger than he is."
THEN, from the NLT
Ecclesiastes
6:10, "Everything
has already been decided. It was known long ago what each person would be. So
there's no used arguing with God about your destiny."
Can everyone say in unison, "Calvinism?!"
It is easy to see how Rick Warren came up with his
verses for the Purpose Driven Life. In
the book, Warren admits that he quoted 15 different translations. When I called his office, they affirmed that
he might have used more translations than are quoted. It is easy to see how he achieved his Calvinistic agenda. It would be as easy as 2+2=4 to prove any
doctrine if one may use a variety of translations as loose as the above
illustration.
